Selling a registered vehicle
Queensland Government guidance says a seller must give the buyer a current inspection certificate or, for an electronic certificate, a copy or the certificate number. The buyer cannot complete the registration transfer without the required certificate.
Selling an unregistered vehicle
An unregistered vehicle, trailer or caravan can generally be sold in Queensland without a safety certificate. The buyer may still need an inspection certificate before registration. Keep a written record of the sale and check the current rules for your circumstances.
